In 1975 the Johnson Family was introduced to their first weimaraner, a young female named Bonnie. As children, we were courious of this strange looking dog, much less trying to pronounce the word "WEIMARANER". As for me, being only 10 years old, that was just way too big of a word. Took me a while to learn how to spell it, after learning how to say it. Regardless of the looks and the name, the family grew to love this dog.
In 1976 Virginia added a second Weimaraner, a male named BLACKWATER MACK V.REITERALM, lovingly known as "Bear". The first few years of Bear's life were not the most pleasent. So when he came to live with the Johnson Family, he had quite a little attitude. As time went by, he settled down and grew into a dog that everyone loved. And he gratefully returned that love.
1978 was a big year for our family. In March, the first "Debar" puppy was born. Debar's Princess V. Reiteralm. She was my first weimaraner. Bear won the Weimaraner National Speciality in August.
Bear and Princess were quite a duo, both in the ring, and more importantly, at home. Because of the escapades these two got into, new terms became common in our home. The most common term was "Jail Break". This term was used when someone mistakenly left the front door open and the father/daughter duo decided to go terrorize the neighborhood. Their favorite animal to terrorize was a Beagle named Larry. Have you ever seen a white beagle? Larry was white. He wasnt before Bear and Princess came along, but he was after the years of being chased by them. They never hurt him, but they gave him a run for his money, normally chasing him to his front door and leaving him there.
In 1982 there was another addition to the house. Rochel Debar Ace of Hearts, aka. ACE. Ace was also known as "Captain Cupcake". In 1984 Ace became a Canadian Champion and won a Best in Show in Canada. He was only there for two weeks, but in that time, he took Canada by storm.
These three Weims, although they are long gone, have left an impression in our hearts. We carry their good nature, devotion, loyalty, and love with us always. They will always be remembered for who they were............................
MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY.
With the passing of time, a new generation is born, and our story goes on....................................
